How to Use Image Splitter
Using the tool is quick and intuitive – just follow three simple steps:
- Select an image
Upload a photo from your computer or drag it directly into the tool. - Choose the splitting mode
- Instagram – choose a carousel or a grid, and the tool will automatically adjust the slices to Instagram’s proportions.
- Custom – choose a grid or proportions and specify the exact number of columns, rows, or segment ratios.
- Download the split images
Click “Split Image”, and the slices will be ready to download – individually or as a ZIP file.
Working Modes
Instagram Mode:
• Carousel - split an image into a chosen number of columns in a single row, perfect for multi-part posts.
• Grid – maintain slice proportions so they look perfect in your profile and aren’t cropped.
Custom Mode:
• Grid - create an even split with any number of columns and rows.
• Proportions – divide the image into slices with specific aspect ratios, with multiple preset options.
Source Image Dimensions for Instagram Posts
To ensure your photos look perfect on Instagram, each slice should have an aspect ratio of 4:5 and a resolution of 1080 × 1350 px. This prevents scaling and ensures the highest publishing quality. Remember that your source files should not be significantly smaller – low resolution may worsen the final result.
Carousel (1 row):
- 2 columns → 2160 × 1350 px – ratio: 8:5
- 3 columns → 3240 × 1350 px – ratio: 12:5
- 4 columns → 4320 × 1350 px – ratio: 16:5
- 5 columns → 5400 × 1350 px – ratio: 4:1
Post grid (3 columns):
- 1 row → 3240 × 1350 px – ratio: 12:5
- 2 rows → 3240 × 2700 px – ratio: 6:5
- 3 rows → 3240 × 4050 px – ratio: 4:5
- 4 rows → 3240 × 5400 px – ratio: 3:5
With these dimensions, the source image can be easily divided into slices that maintain proper proportions and look perfect both in a carousel and in the profile grid.
